CARTER AND PLUMB LOOKING FOR CONSISTENCY AND POINTS AT DAYTONA!
The Affluent Lifestyle Magazine, Jetset to Sponsor The B+ Foundation Racing Program
Wilmington, DE – (January 24, 2012) - A year ago, after their debut racing together at Daytona International Speedway in the Continental Tire Sports Car Challenge, Al Carter, Hugh Plumb, Fall-Line Motorsports and The B+ Foundation are ready for round 1 of the 2012 season next Friday at Daytona.
Following very successful test days two weeks ago to prepare for the first race of the season on the legendary 3.56 mile, 12-turn Daytona Beach, Florida speedway road course, Carter and Plumb know that this season that is about to start may be the most competitive in the history of the GRAND-AM Continental Tire Sports Car Challenge since its inception.
Al Carter and Hugh Plumb had a great run last year and were in contention for a podium finish when an accident triggered a full course caution and the race ended under caution. Carter and Plumb finished 5th in the 2011 Grand-Am 200.
Al Carter is approaching this new season with a lot of anticipation. “This season we’re really trying to concentrate on our consistency,” said Al Carter. “We were fast last year, we were competitive, but we didn’t score well in the points, so we’re going to focus on getting top 5’s and get podiums and if we get podiums we have a chance to win” added Carter.
Hugh Plumb’s expectations are also high like his level of pressure for 2012. He and Al will be seen as one of the top challengers to finish on the podium of the championship. “You know, what my expectation is every time we go to the race track: we’ve got to go to the front. It’s always that same game of being conservative, taking care of the car, Al being fast, being in the groove right out of the box and we’ve really got to look at this season with the competition that’s here, as a full championship”, commented Hugh Plumb. “Obviously you go race to race wanting to go all out, but never do you want to get caught up in something that is going to cost you dearly in points at the 10th race, so points and as many of them is the key this year” added Plumb.
Jetset Magazine is pleased to join Al Carter, Hugh Plumb and The B+ Foundation racing program as an associate sponsor for 2012. Jetset Magazine is a premier magazine for a premier audience. In addition to competing with Fall-Line Motorsports in this first round of the 2012 championship, Al Carter and Hugh Plumb will also race in the 50th running of the Rolex 24 At Daytona with Stevenson Motorsports. They will co-drive the No. 75 Chevrolet Camaro GT.R with Eric Curran and Matt Bell. The team and its drivers had an encouraging test during “The Roar Before The Rolex 24” and even if their car must find a slight dose of speed before qualifying, Carter and Plumb are hoping to be a top GT contender when the race comes on January 28.
Hugh Plumb will make sure that Al Carter approaches his first Rolex 24 with calm and confidence. With seven prior Rolex 24 At Daytona starts, Hugh’s experience will also be a positive factor for the ultimate finish of the 75 car on Sunday, January 29.
“I feel good, right now we’re not the fastest car in the Rolex 24 GT field but I think we can be consistent and we’re figuring things out for the B+ Foundation 75 Stevenson Camaro. We’ve got a great driver line-up so my expectations are high. I think we just need to be smart and get the car up to speed” added Plumb.
The BMW Performance 200 at Daytona start is scheduled for Friday, January 27 at 1:30 PM ET. Follow the race live on Twitter @Bpositiveracing or Facebook.com/Bpositiveracing. The Rolex 24 is set to start on Saturday, January 28 at 3:30 PM. Speed TV and Speed.com will cover the race LIVE flag to flag. The BMW Performance 200 will be televised on SPEED TV Saturday, February 4 at noon ET.
